The Standing Stones of Callinish, Orkney's "Stonehenge" are ethereal, monumental and ageless. The 5000 year old monoliths draw many visitors and unlike Stonehenge, you can walk freely among them, touch them, get in touch with your inner spiritual Neolithic. Set on a bleak hill of raw beauty, if you have time, go there when there is no-one else around. At daybreak or sunset, the images will be strong than in the middle of the day, when visitors understandably throng to the site.
